This course focuses upon preparation for public speaking issues and ethics faced by leaders. Definitions of biblical leadership are reviewed as they relate to values and culture. The theory and practice of biblical leadership is evaluated as it pertains to a biblical worldview. BLS - 500, Biblical Leadership, is an essential course for fulfilling the vision of Lifebuilder’s Counseling Services Institute to train leaders. The chief biblical texts that develop the requirements of leaders are: 1 Timothy 3:1-13, 2 Timothy 2:1-13, Titus 1:5-9, Acts 6:1-6, and Exodus 18:21-22. The qualifications spelled out in these passages can be summarized in four words: commitment, conviction, competency, and character.
Terri Morgan Dismuke, M.A., PFBC&C is the President of Lifebuilder’s Counseling Services (LCS) and has worked with LCS since 2009. Prior to joining the LCS team, Terri was an owner and operator of two family businesses where she worked for over 11 years. The first was a software production company and the second was a catering company. On special occasions, she fulfills her customers’ wishes with some of her southern favorites. She is a true entrepreneur always perceiving the glass as half full. She knows that faith is an action word and it pleases God. So, walking by faith is a natural declaration of her faith.
She also has worked in the area of Human Resources for the past 8 years and is currently the Employment and Wellness Specialist at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles. She is a motivator for those who have a mistaken belief that life has passed them by. She lives by the words; “Don’t be moved by what you see. Speak to your mountains!” Obtaining her certificate as a Professional Biblical Counselor and Life Coach was a natural progression given her ability to interact with people on every social level.
Terri has a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management, from Cal Poly University. Working with people through hospitality, has given her the broad base of experience needed to be an effective coach and leader. She truly understands how to use her listening and problem-solving skills. She encourages everyone to be the best they can be and facilitates the needed support through life’s most challenging issues. Most recently, she earned a Master’s in Business-Executive Leadership from Liberty University. She is determined to take LCS to its next level.
